Alex Zamm is close to animals right from his childhood days His exact date and place of birth are not known. But he grew up in Woodstock in New York. Talking about his childhood and mother, Alex had once said:
“I actually grew-up in Woodstock, NY. I grew-up in the woods on a very remote bit of property. In fact, my parents built their house and I helped out with the construction. So the building of a house stage by stage was something I was familiar with, along with all the problems that come with it, and also learning to cohabitate with nature.”

“My mother is someone who’s like St. Francis of Assisi or Dr. Dolittle. She was always coming home with wild animals. So we grew up having a groundhog in the house, named Marvin Mammal.”
