Amateur Years
He began his career in boxing as an amateur, recording 137 wins and 7 losses. During his initial career, he won series of boxing competitions including the 2003 Junior Olympics national championship and in the year 2004 won United States national champion in the 19–and–under division, National Golden Gloves welterweight championship, a PAL national championship.
Moreover, he won his second PAL national championship, National Golden Gloves middleweight championship in 2005.
Professional Career
He debuted his career professionally on December 8, 2007, against Jose Jesus Hurtado, which he won by first-round technical knockout in just 29 seconds. After signing with Golden Boy Promotions he has fought against Ishe Smith, James Kirkland, Dmitry Pirog.
Daniel Jacobs returned to boxing on October 20, 2012, after 19 months of treatment and recovery for osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. In the WBA (Regular) middleweight he has had matches against Gennady Golovkin, Luis Arias, Maciej Sulecki, Peter Quillin, Serhiy Derevianchenko, etc.
