Dusty Baker, also known as Johnnie B. Baker Jr., is a former American baseball player and the current manager of the Houston Astros. He was an outfielder in Major League Baseball for 19 seasons. With the Los Angeles Dodgers, he earned the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1978. He also managed the Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds. In the 1977 National League Championship Series, he was named All-Star twice, earned two Silver Slugger Awards, and won the Gold Glove Award.
Dusty Baker became the first NLCS MVP in the 1977 National League Championship series. Baker made it to three World Series but won one in 1981. He is the first manager in MLB history to lead five separate clubs to the playoffs and win a division title. He is the second-oldest manager in the world series, at the age of 72. He won the World Series with the Giants in 2002 and the World Series with the Astros in 2021, making him the ninth manager to win pennants in both the American and National Leagues.
