John Hynes is an American professional ice hockey coach. He is best recognized as the former head coach of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.
He was awarded the Louis A. R. Pieri Memorial Award in 2011. He signed a multi-year contract extension with the New Jersey Devils on January 3, 2019.

John Hynes: Professional Career
During the 2000-01 season, he worked as a former assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In 2002-2003 season, he became an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin.
John worked as a head coach with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program after the 2002-03 season for the next six seasons.
John led the US under-18 national team to three medals at the World Under-18 Championships. Moreover, John worked as the head coach of the U.S. national team at the 2008 World Junior Championships. In addition, he was an assistant coach on the 2004 U.S. team that won a gold medal at the World Junior event.
John was named an assistant coach for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on 4th august 2009. On 31st July 2010, the WBS Penguins announced the Hynes would be the team’s new head coach.
John was named as the new head coach of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League on 2nd June 2015, replacing Scott Stevens and Adam Oates.
For the 2015-16 season, John became the youngest head coach in the NHL.
Moreover, Hynes coached the Devils to their playoff appearance since the 2011-12 season when they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs on 5th April 2018.
