He was born Michael William Comrie on September 11, 1980, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to father Bill Comrie and mother Theresa Comrie.
He has two siblings- older sister Cathy Robinson and older brother Paul Comrie. From his father’s second marriage he has two half-brothers Eric Comrie and Ty Comrie, who are also hockey players.
He joined Jasper Place Composite High School and later joined the University of Michigan. Mike belongs to Canadian nationality and Caucasian ethnicity.

Mike Comrie: Professional Career
He started his career playing ice hockey since he was very young. He played in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 1993 with a minor ice hockey team. Mike Comrie was selected by Edmonton Oilers in the 1999 NHL draft, in the third round, ninety-first overalls.
NHL
He was traded to Philadelphia Flyers after playing for Edmonton Oilers from 1999-2004. In 2004, Mike Comrie was again traded to Phoenix Coyotes.
In addition, he signed a one-year contract worth $3.375 million with the New York Islanders on July 5, 2007, as an unrestricted free agent but was re-signed with the Islanders on February 26, 2008, to a new one-year contract worth $4 million.
Mike Comrie returned to Edmonton Oilers for the 2009-2010 NHL season. On September 18, 2009, he became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2010.
On September 3, 2010, he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, which was worth $500,000.
However, on February 13, 2012, Mike Comrie retired from hockey after undergoing hip surgery for the third time.
