He was born Pernell-Karl Sylvester Subban on May 13, 1989, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to father Karl Subban, a school principal and mother Maria Subban.
His father, Karl had immigrated from Jamaica to Sudbury while Maria had come from Montserrat to Hamilton.
He attended Runnymede Collegiate Institute.
Subban has four siblings- sisters Nastassia Subban, Natasha Subban, and brother Jordan Subban, Malcolm Subban who are both ice hockey players. They belong to Jamaican, Montserratian ethnicity, and holds Canadian citizenship.
P. K. Subban: Professional Career
He began his junior career in ice hockey with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2005 to 2009 seasons.
Later, he was signed to a three-year contract by the Montreal Canadiens in May 2009. His 2009-2010 season began with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Montreal’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, and played for the team until the 2015 season.
Subban was traded to Nashville Predators on June 29, 2016, and played against Pittsburgh Penguins. Later, he was traded to New Jersey Devils in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
At the 2008 World Junior Ice hockey championship, Subban played for his home country Canada and at the 2014 Winter Olympic. He had been invited to participate in the 2012 IIHF World Championship but could not play due to his injury obtained during pre-tournament play.
He has won the titles WJC All-Star Team (2009), NHL All-Star (2016, 2017, 2018), First All-Star Team (2013, 2015), All-Star Game (2010).
