His first debut was the 2005 movie Feast which he co-wrote with Marcus Dunstan. The movie got good reviews from the audiences and won Project Greenlight Season3.
Based on its success, it has two sequels; Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds in 2008 and Feast 3: The Happy Finish in 2009.
He came to the limelight when he worked with the most successful horror franchise of all time, Saw. He wrote Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D for a worldwide take of nearly $500,000,000. Furthermore, Melton wrote the home invasion thriller The Collector (2009), which was directed by his longtime writing partner, Marcus Dunstan.
